Waking up after your new years bash may bring more than just a hangover for some. This month is known for getting everyone down. A mixture of the post-christmas blues and the seemingly endless cold weather, makes us feel like every day is a duvet day. Not to mention that many of us will be returning to work, leaving and coming home whilst it’s dark; missing the entire days’ sunlight in the process. Blue Monday is looming midway through January and for many, the stark contrast between the excesses of Christmas and the prospect of a long, cold winter ahead is already on our minds. Instead of dreading this emotional roller-coaster of a month, we should all plan to greet it head on and make our January a happy, healthy one. So, let’s say Welcome to New Years Day 2019 and a Happy New Year to Everyone!
Ok, so first things first. The holidays have been hectic for everyone and we all need to spend a couple of days relaxing and improving our health and wellbeing. Everything can finally slow down and we can all have a little bit of much-needed me-time. Sleep in late for a couple of days, watch crap TV, put your feet up and recharge your batteries before another year starts. If you’re really stuck, then take some inspiration from our easy-to-keep new years’ resolutions blog [link]; and grab some ideas on making the start of this year a little easier and brighter.
Remember all those gifts you unwrapped sooooo long ago now? My bet is that a few of those have been put away already, never to see the light of day again! Well, there’s no better time to put them to good use than when the winter blues start kicking in. Pamper yourself with all the fluffy stuff, pop open a bottle of wine, spend your spare time soaking in luxurious bubbles and play with those silly stocking fillers that everyone laughs at but never really puts to good use. Even if they don’t seem like something you’ll enjoy, get the most out of all your gifts and give yourself a little reminder that next christmas is only another year away!
What better way to put a smile on your face, than to take a stroll down memory lane. Yes, we know Christmas was just last week, but with the prospect of making it through January, we could all do with a giggle at ourselves and our loved ones. Take a look back at some of your most embarrassing, silly or exciting holiday moments. You may even want to share them with the world. Give yourself a good laugh and remind yourself that it will all be happening again in another twelve months time. You’ll be in the mood for next years’ fun before you’ve even finished flicking through your camera roll.
Life needs to be a mixture of work, rest and play; and January is all about putting those all important plans in place for the coming year. You’ll find that as your diary starts filling up, so will your mood. Spend some time planning for the coming year. Parties, time with friends, family time, holidays. Top of the list is always going to be getting you some sunshine and you know the saying; the best way to get over one holiday is to start preparing for another. Plan your winter getaways, summer holidays, days out and mini weekend breaks and you’ll have a great new year ahead to look forward to. Bring on 2019!
We all miss the excessive partying of Christmas and New Year already. But whoever made the rule that we have to give it all up now that we are starting a new year? There’s no hard and fast rules here. We say party on… and on and on! I really don’t think anyone needs any more persuading on this matter. It’s pretty obvious. Partying is the answer to everything. Don’t even try to deny it because we won’t believe you!
